CARDIFF-BY-THE-SEA, Calif., Nov. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Urban Plates opens its eleventh restaurant today in The Oaks Mall at 162 W. Hillcrest Drive, Ste. 100, Thousand Oaks, California, 91360. The restaurant serves food made from scratch using high quality and sustainably sourced ingredients. The food is served in an open interactive kitchen in a comfortable urban-chic setting.

Real meals made from scratch with free range chicken, grass fed steak, wild caught albacore, salmon and more.

The menu focuses on complete meals prepared around high quality proteins like grass fed steak, free range chicken, pole and line caught albacore tuna, turkey meatloaf and baked salmon. Custom Plates include a choice of protein, two sides and a generous slice of chargrilled rustic bread. There are several side choices focused on ingredients at their peak season, including perennial favorites, like sautéed Brussels sprouts with turkey bacon, mashed potatoes made with organic potatoes, beet salad with goat cheese, tomato mozzarella salad, and macaroni & cheese. Entrée salads, hand-carved sandwiches, seasonal soups and kid's meals, all using the same high quality ingredients, are also part of the menu.

The menu pricing is $12-14 for an Urban Plate, $9-10 for Entrée Salads, $9-10 for Hand-Carved Sandwiches and chips, and $11 for Seasonal Slow-Cooked Braises. Kids Meals range from $7.00-8.50.

In keeping with its scratch-cooking commitment, Urban Plates has its own in-house pastry chefs. Each day they create more than a dozen kinds of desserts including the signature mango tart, hummingbird cake, banana cream pie, chocolate vanilla layer cake, chocolate peanut butter pretzel crunch cupcake, chocolate pudding, gluten-free macaroons and a seasonal selection of other fresh desserts.

The beverage selection at Urban Plates complements the variety of dining options. Selections include probiotic Kombucha on tap, local craft beers, wine and organic house-made juice Replenishers in refreshing combinations like organic carrot, orange, and ginger.
