Urban Airship Closes Intel Capital Investment and Business Collaboration Agreement
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Urban Airship today announced that it has closed an investment from Intel Capital and has entered into a business collaboration agreement with the Intel Software and Services Group. The investment is part of Urban Airship's $15.1 million Series C round, which also includes salesforce.com and Verizon, and existing investors Foundry Group and True Ventures.
As part of the collaboration, Urban Airship will support specific Intel initiatives in mobile. This collaboration will allow developers to create smart, context-rich apps that incorporate Urban Airship push notifications, in-app purchasing, subscriptions and geo-location. It will open up the growing Ultrabook, netbook and tablet markets to Urban Airship, which has been primarily focused on serving developers of smartphone apps.
