Upstream Sees Opportunity for Innovation and Growth in Competitive Latin American Marketplace as it Launches Mobile Marketing Hub
Number Portability and High Level of Mobile Penetration Drives Carriers to Deploy the Latest Mobile Marketing Technology and Techniques
RIO DE JANEIRO and LONDON, Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Upstream, the global mobile marketing technology and solutions provider, today announced the opening of new regional headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil that will offer a hub for mobile-marketing expertise for Latin American carriers and brands.
Upstream's existing clients in Latin America, such as Personal in Argentina, TIM in Brazil, Comcel in Colombia and others, have used Upstream's Marketing Communications Suite (MCS) technology platform to achieve the highest levels of customer engagement, response and conversion in their mobile-marketing programs.
"We already have a successful record in Latin America, but believe that there is a huge opportunity for us to support the drive for innovation and growth in mobile marketing that we see from carriers and brands in a region that enjoys some of the highest levels of mobile penetration in the world," says Alex Vratskides, CEO, Upstream.
Diego Benavides, Vice-President, Upstream is heading the company's Latin American operations and has hired a team of technology and client services experts to support the growing client list.
"There is a backdrop of fierce competition among the continent's carriers as they battle for market share and look for ways to drive long-term customer value," says Benavides. "With more countries introducing mobile number portability, the fight to retain subscribers is intense and mobile marketing has primarily focused on price-promotions, producing only short-term gains for the carriers and risking high levels of churn."
"By partnering with Upstream, carriers will be able to take advantage of our ten years of technology and campaign expertise to create more strategic mobile-marketing campaigns that increase customer lifetime value through creative and effective engagement that drives increased response," continues Benavides.
Upstream's MCS is a Software as a Service marketing technology platform that handles more than one billion interactions every year with over 500 million consumers. MCS combines real-time, optimized communications; game mechanics and dynamics; contextualization and personalization with advanced analytics and consumer insights to deliver the best possible customer response rates.
Upstream's technology and marketing campaign expertise have so far generated more than $500 million in incremental revenue for its brand and carrier clients around the world, including: Coca-Cola; Nestle, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Telefonica and America Movil.
"Our experience of achieving unparalleled response rates over mobile reduces the level of customer churn, makes campaigns more engaging for subscribers and more profitable for carriers and brands. We can reduce the number of communications with an individual subscriber by 50 percent and still increase the overall value of the marketing campaign," concludes Benavides.
The opening of the Rio de Janeiro office is the latest regional expansion, adding to Upstream's bases in Silicon Valley, London, Athens, Bucharest, Rome, Singapore and Dubai.
