UPPO Announces Special Education Session for the Securities Industry
NEW YORK, June 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The unique challenges of unclaimed property (escheatment) compliance for the securities industry will be the focus of a special pre-session at the 2010 regional seminar for the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO) in Minneapolis.
"Compliance requirements unique to securities have grown increasingly complex," said Valerie Jundt, 2010 UPPO president. "We have heard from a large number of organizations - broker dealers, transfer agents, mutual fund companies, and even banks and insurance companies - saying they really need this information. So we're delighted to include such an important topic as part of our holder education and compliance seminar this year."
A panel of industry experts will help seminar attendees understand and navigate the complex web of unclaimed property compliance regulations governing securities. The pre-session also will address the intricacies of IRAs, which have grown in variety and complexity in recent years ... and the special challenge of complying with unclaimed property regulations when they conflict with the Securities and Exchange Commission's "lost shareholder" requirements (SEC Rule 17Ad-17).
"Unclaimed Property in the Securities Industry" will take place 3:30-5:00pm Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis. For details or to register, go to www.uppo.org
