UPMC for Life Offering Plans for Lancaster in 2014
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- UPMC for Life – the Medicare Advantage product line of UPMC Health Plan – is now available for the first time to residents of Lancaster County who are eligible for Medicare in 2014.
"UPMC for Life is right for Lancaster because our network includes the best hospitals, our health plans are of the highest quality, our benefits provide more than Original Medicare alone, and we also offer access to our Health Care Concierge team," said Eugene Scanzera, Vice President of Medicare for UPMC Health Plan. "UPMC for Life is focused on making it simple for its members to get the care they need."
UPMC for Life is partnering with physicians and hospitals in Lancaster County to provide quality health care to Medicare beneficiaries and to make it easier for them to get the care they need where and when they need it.
UPMC for Life offers three plan options – an HMO deductible plan with pharmacy coverage, a $0 monthly plan premium HMO without pharmacy coverage, and a PPO with a high deductible and pharmacy coverage.
Included with the extra benefits and services provided with all UPMC for Life plans is access to UPMC Health Plan's award-winning Health Care Concierge service. UPMC for Life's local representatives are knowledgeable about Medicare and each specific plan. They can answer questions about benefits, find local network providers, and schedule important preventive care appointments.
This year, UPMC for Life is introducing a new fitness benefit – Fit for Life. With Fit for Life, members can go to any fitness facility they would like and get reimbursed for a portion of their membership. Those who choose HMO plans will pay 40 percent of the membership cost and UPMC for Life will reimburse them up to $300 annually. Those with PPO plans must pay 50 percent of membership costs and can be reimbursed up to $250 annually.
Other benefits for all UPMC for Life plans include routine vision coverage, a hearing discount program, a dental discount program, and Assist America®, which provides coverage for persons travelling over 100 miles from home or to another country.
UPMC for Life has a four-star quality rating from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services, the Federal agency that oversees Medicare.
Medicare annual open enrollment – the one time each year when all Medicare beneficiaries have the opportunity to review their coverage and switch plans for the next year – runs from Oct. 15, 2013, through Dec. 7, 2013. The new coverage year starts on Jan. 1, 2014.
