Upgraded Hazloc Lab Expands DNV GL and QPS Collaboration for Explosive Atmosphere Equipment Testing

HOUSTON, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- With the QPS Evaluation Services, Inc. opening of a recently upgraded state-of-the-art HazLoc testing laboratory, DNV GL – Business Assurance and QPS Evaluation Services, Inc. are expanding their collaborative testing and certification services for equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The two companies began working together in 2015, providing a full suite of hazardous location equipment certification services to North American and globally based organizations.

The new test lab, located at the QPS facilities in Toronto, features:

- A new larger test chamber capable of performing the required tests for all major standards, including IECEx, FM, CSA, UL, EN and others.

- Provisions to test with up to 15-ft of conduit

- Provisions for recording explosion tests

- New and automated gas mixing/analyzing systems

- Dedicated sample preparation facilities

- New spark ignition tester

- Thermal ignition chamber

- New automated gas mixing/analyzing systems

- Dedicated sample preparation facilities

- New dedicated electrical and temperature testing stations

This strategic alliance provides the customers of both QPS and DNV GL a more streamlined process for their hazardous location testing and certification needs, by being able to use the high level of technical expertise present in both organizations. QPS and DNV GL are also very active in the international IECEx certification scheme and in the development of hazardous location equipment standards in North America and through the IEC.
