UPDATE: Aprima Rescues Allscripts MyWay Users from Forced and Costly EMR Conversion
PLEASE NOTE: In some earlier communications, Aprima had used the word 'ABANDON' to describe Allscript's approach to its MyWay customers. Instead of using the language 'ABANDON,' what we should have said is that it is no longer developing or updating the MyWay product, including compliance for government incentives and requirements such as Meaningful Use and ICD-10. We apologize for any confusion.
Free upgrade to Aprima's EMR and PM with same look and feel as Allscript's cancelled MyWay system avoids major disruption and risk.
DALLAS, Oct. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Aprima Medical Software announced last week that help is on the way for Allscripts MyWay™ users who recently learned that further sales and development of MyWay have been halted, and the system will not be Meaningful Use Stage 2, 5010, or ICD-10 compliant. MyWay is built on a legacy Aprima "core" product, which Aprima has since upgraded with nearly a thousand enhancements, including hundreds of substantive improvements to the Practice Management system. Aprima is offering a lifeline to these stranded users with a free, simple upgrade to a fully compliant EMR and PM that has the same look and feel as MyWay.

This will circumvent the need for MyWay users to switch to another Allscripts EMR product, which would require a complete change in systems, plus an arduous data conversion and retraining period, potentially creating additional mental, physical and financial disruption to the practice.
"Ironically, MyWay users can avoid such a massive disruption by switching to another provider instead of another Allscripts product. Aprima actually provided the original code for the Allscripts MyWay system, so we can painlessly upgrade these users to an EMR and PM with the same appearance and very similar functionality," said Aprima president and CEO Michael Nissenbaum.
The MyWay Rescue Upgrade Program™ from Aprima
MyWay resellers can maintain their current business relationships, and even strengthen them by having a free and fast upgrade at the ready for practices that are understandably anxious about having to make an expensive conversion if they want to demonstrate 5010 and ICD-10 compliance, or qualify for government incentives including Meaningful Use Stage 2, PQRS, e-Prescribing, and others. Providers initially bought MyWay for a specific reason such as the unique non-template approach to charting, the speed and ease-of-use, and the adaptive learning feature, so most don't want to have to change to something that is very different.
The MyWay Rescue Upgrade Program™ includes:
- Free Aprima licenses – no need to repurchase software
- Same look and feel with nearly 1,000 enhancements
- Minimal learning curve of new features
- Minimal to no downtime
- Existing data remains intact; this is a proven product upgrade, not a conversion
- U.S.-based support
- CCHIT and ONC-certified EMR
"The difference between a costly conversion and a simple and proven upgrade can also make the difference on whether practices will achieve compliance on important healthcare initiatives," continued Nissenbaum. "MyWay users who upgrade to Aprima are making a very logical and obvious choice, offered by a stable organization."
