Unorthodox Fundraiser Hits $1 Million Dollar Benchmark
Custom Fundraising Solutions Reinvents School Fundraising Model and Gives Back over $8 Million Dollars
CLEVELAND, July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Custom Fundraising Solutions, a company founded 8 years ago in Cleveland, Ohio, is taking traditional fundraising models to the mats…mattresses, that is, and for no better reason but to give back to the kids. President & founder, Joe Matejka spent his early career in the fundraising business peddling everything from popcorn to wrapping paper. He later found success in the furniture industry. His combined knowledge of the two industries coupled with his desire to get back into "giving back" inspired his out-of-the-box idea, "The Mattress Fundraiser."

Matejka's determination to change the landscape of fundraising motivated him to develop a new model. "As a father of four daughters, I didn't want to see kids selling cheese and candy bars door-to-door anymore. I wanted to create a way that schools could raise thousands of dollars in one day, hassle-free, while providing a product the community actually needs, at a great value."
Custom Fundraising Solutions, now a nationwide company with nearly 50 locations, has given back over $8 million dollars, to date. "Most the kids we work with are in athletics or music, and those coaches and directors really embrace this concept, as unorthodox as it may be." A group from Chantilly, Virginia, the Westfield High School Marching Bulldogs, hosted a Mattress Fundraiser as part of their fundraising efforts to get their 270 members to the Rose Parade in Pasadena this past New Year's Day. After selling more than 80 beds in one day, the CFS Virginia operator, Stephen McCarthy, wrote that group of talented young musicians a check for $10,000. "We were really excited to hear Al Roker talk about the Mattress Fundraiser when he introduced the band that morning. What an honor it is to know that we could help these kids achieve their goal!" http://www.customfundraisingsolutions.com/#!A-Mention-by-Al-Roker-Virginia-Band-Uses-Mattress-Fundraiser-To-Gets-To-Rose-Parade/cylr/B988E00E-D293-4AE3-A7B3-5DE878657A52
A significant milestone for the CFS Cleveland location (the first location) was met earlier this summer. In just a little over 5 years, more than $1 million dollars has been given back to kids all over northeast Ohio. "I am very proud of this benchmark and even more proud of the kids we work with. These kids get out there in our mattress costumes, jump around on street corners, and have a really great time. The best part is that they get a check for thousands of dollars."
