Unlimited Tomorrow Launches Crowdfunding Drive to Give Advanced Prostheses to 100 People in Need
Indiegogo Campaign Seeks to Provide 100 Tenacious People with Customized, Next-Generation Prosthetic Devices so They can Grab Life with Both Hands
Tony Robbins, the Earliest Supporter of Unlimited Tomorrow, Deepens Commitment; Will Help Fund 100 State-of-the-Art Prostheses
RHINEBECK, N.Y., Nov. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Unlimited Tomorrow, Inc. has kicked off the "100 Tomorrows" crowdfunding campaign with Indiegogo to provide 100 adults and children with amputations or limb differences with advanced customized prosthetic devices.
"Those who are missing limbs have the same great potential as all of us—they just need access to smart, intuitive, and affordable prostheses that empower them to do even more," said Easton LaChappelle, Founder and CEO of Unlimited Tomorrow. "Our crowdfunding campaign allows everyone to do their part to empower amputees to achieve their ambitions—and literally grab life with both hands."
Supporters of Unlimited Tomorrow's "100 Tomorrows" campaign include enterprise technology partners Microsoft, Arrow Electronics and Dassault Systèmes. To contribute to Unlimited Tomorrow's "100 Tomorrows" crowdfunding campaign, or to learn more, please visit: https://igg.me/at/100tomorrows
At least 30 million people around the world are in need of a prosthetic device, but an advanced prosthesis can cost more than $80,000. As a result, many adults and children with amputations or limb differences are forced to use basic, cumbersome prosthetic devices, such as hooks, which limit what they can do in everyday life. Furthermore, children often require four to five artificial limbs as they grow into adolescence and adulthood, driving the cost for their families up to almost $500,000.
To combat this problem on a global level, and give inspirational people the devices they need to both complete everyday tasks and accomplish everything they set their minds to, Mr. LaChappelle founded Unlimited Tomorrow to manufacture prosthetic devices that are as tenacious as the people who wear them—at less than one-tenth of the cost of traditional devices. Unlimited Tomorrow's prosthetic devices are 3D-printed, ultralight, and AI-enhanced devices which have individually moving fingers and look like realistic limbs. Supporters of the "100 Tomorrows" crowdfunding campaign include Tony Robbins, world-renowned peak performance strategist, who is helping to fund 50 prosthetic devices. He will match funding from other campaign supporters to provide an additional 50 prostheses for amputees and those with limb differences who are in need. Mr. Robbins first spotted the potential of Mr. LaChappelle's vision, and made an initial investment to help him establish Unlimited Tomorrow.
"Unlimited Tomorrow has the potential to change the lives of millions of people and can have real global impact," said Tony Robbins. "We chose to turn to crowdfunding and partnerships rather than venture capital to stay true to this mission, and this is something that everyone can be a part of to make a reality."
"This is only the beginning for Unlimited Tomorrow. Helping millions begins with helping the first 100," said Mr. LaChappelle. "We could not have come this far without the support of Tony Robbins and our other partners, and thanks to their help, we are positioned to begin the long journey to provide 30 million individuals with limb differences around the world with advanced and customized prosthetic devices. By combining 3D printing, 3D scanning, machine learning, and crowdfunding, we and our supporters can work together to change millions of lives for the better—step by step."
Unlimited Tomorrow previously utilized crowdfunding to raise $1.6 million to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in New York and grow its team.
