University of Wisconsin-Madison Healthcare Facilities Select Cartagenia Bench Platform For Genetic Diagnostic Solutions
Cartagenia Wins Public Tender Competition
BOSTON and LEUVEN, Belgium, March 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cartagenia, the world leader in software-based workflow support for genetic variant assessment, lab reporting, and integration of diagnostic knowledge-bases, today announced that the University of Wisconsin-Madison has selected the Company's Bench platform genetics diagnostics solution for use at its healthcare facilities. Bench is a comprehensive cloud-based software and database platform with features and knowledge sources that allows genetics labs and clinicians to analyze, interpret, report and share genomic variations in routine clinical diagnostics.
Cartagenia's Bench platform was selected by the University of Wisconsin after an extensive public tender competition. As a result, the Bench platform will be used by the University of Wisconsin healthcare facilities including Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene, the UW Biotech Center and all UW hospitals and clinics.
"The advent of Next Generation Sequencing to molecular diagnostics is currently marked by a shift from early adoption into routine diagnostics. We see an increasing need for standardization and automation now that NGS testing is becoming routine practice. In this increasingly professional diagnostics solutions environment, it is an important landmark for Cartagenia to be selected in a public tender bid," said CEO Herman Verrelst. "It's particularly pleasing that both our NGS and CNV modules are being adopted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We believe our solution provides a best-of-breed and comprehensive single platform solution for labs dealing with both molecular and structural variants and active in both a diagnostic and research setting. We look forward to working closely with the University of Wisconsin and setting up our Bench diagnostic-grade solutions for lab interpretation support and reporting workflow automation to its particular needs."
