DENVER, Aug. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- University of the Rockies will serve as a sponsor for a series of basketball clinics hosted by United Basketball Clinics. The four-clinic series will be held on August 26 in Chattanooga, Tenn.; September 9 in Tomball, Texas; September 15-16 in Knightstown, Ind.; and September 23 in Minneapolis, Minn. In addition, the September 9 basketball clinic will feature Dr. Tim Rice, University of the Rockies lead faculty member in sports and performance psychology.
"University of the Rockies is proud to be a sponsor of United Basketball Clinics," said Dr. Jeremy Moreland, University of the Rockies provost. "As an academic institution specializing in the social and behavioral sciences, these clinics bring theory to practice, allowing athletes and coaches to better their performance both on and off the basketball court."
Working with coaches, trainers, physical therapists, athletic trainers, amateur and professional athletes and athletic managers, students in University of the Rockies' psychology master's and doctoral programs who specialize in sport and performance psychology learn comprehensive strategies to effect change as a coach and leader, both in sports and in human performance in general.
Founded by basketball coach Matt Smith, United Basketball Clinics was created to offer an opportunity for basketball coaches to share their own experiences and teaching concepts with other coaches and basketball athletes. Clinics are held on basketball courts where featured coaches and players can demonstrate drills and concepts on the court.
