Created specifically for service members in the Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. areas, the program will provide four full-tuition scholarships for severely injured service members/veterans and one full-tuition scholarship for the spouse or primary caregiver of a severely injured service member.
"Returning service members – especially those with combat injuries – often face a difficult road to recovery following their service," said Garland Williams, associate regional vice president for University of Phoenix's Military Division. "One of the greatest challenges for these individuals is simply readjusting to civilian life after prolonged and difficult deployments. With this scholarship, our hope is to help injured veterans rebuild their lives and make the transition from military service a bit easier."
To be considered for the scholarship, prospective students must meet the eligibility criteria listed in the application, then fill out and submit the application prior to August 7, 2010. Recipients will be determined by August 28, 2010.
