University of Phoenix Alumni Have the Opportunity to Give the Gift of a College Education
2010 Paying It Forward Scholarship Deadline is October 31, 2010
PHOENIX, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- University of Phoenix alumni have the chance to nominate family members, friends, colleagues or community members for the University's Paying It Forward® Scholarship. The University encourages its 560,000 alumni to participate in the 2010 program that will award 30 individuals a full-tuition scholarship to pursue and complete an undergraduate degree. The application deadline is October 31, 2010.
The Paying It Forward® Scholarship was created in 2006 to celebrate the University's 30th anniversary and to provide continued access to higher education. Since that time, 120 Paying It Forward® Scholarships have been awarded.
Loren Erman is a recipient of the 2009 Paying It Forward® Scholarship. He was born with Kinesthetic, a disorder that involves fine-motor skill problems. He was also diagnosed with learning disabilities and ADHD in second grade. Despite these challenges, Loren persevered through his early school years and credits his caring and supportive teachers for his success. Now as an adult, Loren wants to pay forward the kindness he received as a child. Through the Paying It Forward® Scholarship, Loren is earning his teaching degree with a focus on special education.
University of Phoenix alumni (bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree graduates) may nominate someone for a Paying It Forward® Scholarship. Applications will be accepted online from September 15 through October 31, 2010. The 2010 recipients will be announced in January 2011.
