CORAL GABLES, Fla., Aug. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of Miami School of Business Administration plans to launch an innovative weekend Executive MBA program that breaks new ground in MBA education. The Miami Executive MBA for the Americas program, pending approval of the University's Faculty Senate, will uniquely focus on four key management themes – those of importance to individuals and organizations operating in or connecting with high-growth markets, particularly those of the Americas. These themes include Global Multicultural Leadership, Managing Global Operations and Decision Making, Global Strategy and Execution, and Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology.

The program, to begin in August 2014, will be further distinguished by its focus on peer learning, whereby participants learn from one another by sharing, discussing, and analyzing the business challenges, threats and opportunities they face every day. Each weekend session will feature case studies, group projects, and simulations on issues of importance to high-potential executives engaged in the Americas, with work customized for program participants and their organizations. This will be enhanced by interaction with accomplished C-Suite executives from Miami and Latin America, who will participate in discussions and share their perspectives on these issues throughout the program.
"The Miami Executive MBA for the Americas program will be structured around themes relevant to high-potential executives, in particular those who want to excel in the high-growth markets of the Americas, in contrast to conventional Executive MBA programs, which are organized around functional areas," said Eugene Anderson, dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration. "This approach to business education, coupled with a focus on peer learning, will bring exceptional value to both the participants and their organizations."
The 17-month weekend program will be delivered in a format that blends on-campus face-to-face sessions with online distance learning, providing busy executives from across the Americas with a convenient way to earn the MBA degree. Nine on-campus sessions will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, once every eight weeks, with one-week sessions held at the start and finish of the program. Remote learning activities such as video conferencing, simulations, group discussions, and projects will take place in between the on-campus sessions.
The program will draw upon the School's strong relationships with the South Florida and Latin American business communities, its faculty expertise in international business, and its ability to attract to its programs seasoned executives from across the region. For more than a decade the School has offered a Spanish-language Executive MBA program that draws executives from across Latin America. The School also delivers an Executive MBA program in Puerto Rico and has partnerships with a number of leading business schools in the region. América Economía, one of Latin America's leading business magazines, in 2013 ranked the School's full-time MBA program among the top-10 U.S. MBA programs for Latin Americans and in 2012 ranked the School's executive education program as the No. 2 U.S. executive education program for Latin America.
