University of Miami School of Business to Offer First Fully-Online Master's Program

CORAL GABLES, Fla., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of Miami School of Business Administration will launch its first fully-online master's program in January 2015. The online Master of Science in Finance program will be a challenging, engaging, and integrated learning experience for working professionals who want to pursue careers in the finance industry or advance in their current career. Taught by the same world-class faculty who teach in the School's on-campus master's programs, the Master's in Finance program can be completed over 16 months.

"The online Master of Science in Finance program is an example of how the University of Miami School of Business is innovating in response to the changing needs of the business community," said Gene Anderson, dean of the University of Miami School of Business Administration. "The program is designed to address the growing demand for master's-level finance education that is flexible, personalized, and supportive."

Initially, there will be two tracks of study in the program, for which applications are now being accepted. In each track, corporate finance and financial decision making, participants can earn a certificate while earning the full master's degree. The corporate finance track builds skills relevant to those pursuing careers in or interacting with functions such as the controller's office, treasury management, capital budgeting, and investor relations. The financial decision making track is designed for those who plan to work in a corporate setting or in the management of mutual funds, hedge funds, and pension funds. Additional program tracks and certificates will be considered in the future. Inaugural tuition reductions and merit scholarships of up to 30% are available to qualified applicants.

The School currently offers an executive MBA program, The Miami Executive MBA for the Americas, which blends on-campus sessions with flexible, personalized, and supportive online learning.

The university is also offering a fully online master's in sport administration program that teaches the business of sports with a global perspective. The program also launches in January in the School of Education and Human Development.
