University of Dundee Joins FINCAD Academic Endowment Program
VANCOUVER, British Columbia and DUNDEE, Scotland, Feb. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FINCAD, the leading provider of OTC derivatives pricing and risk solutions, is pleased to announce that the University of Dundee has joined FINCAD's Academic Endowment Program. As part of this program, the comprehensive cross-asset analytics software FINCAD Analytics Suite for Excel will be integrated into the university's commodity trading and strategic optimization course at its Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP).
In accordance with its mission of making complex finance easy, affordable and widely available, FINCAD's Academic Endowment Program was established to provide finance students with software used by practitioners in the financial marketplace with the belief that practical experience is an instrumental part of education. Recently voted number 1 in the UK in Times' Higher Education Student Experience Survey, the University of Dundee partnered with FINCAD to give students the opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of industry standard software, in particular helping them understand the practical applications and methodologies used in financial trading activities, valuation and pricing techniques, and asset optimization.
Bob Park, President and CEO, FINCAD says that "FINCAD recognizes the importance of investing in the future, and we believe that this is best accomplished by our FINCAD Academic Endowment and Scholarship Programs. I'm very glad that we are able to work together with academic institutions like the University of Dundee, and help contribute to students' educational and professional development."
"We value practical experience at the Centre and work hard to maintain close links with the industry," says Peter Cameron, Director, CEPMLP. "As such we are very pleased to have the opportunity to partner with FINCAD and give students hands on experience that they can take with them as they transition away from academia."
In addition to its Academic Endowment Program, FINCAD also donated scholarships to two female finance students this January as part of its Women in Finance Scholarship Program. This initiative aims to address the under-representation of women in the industry by recognizing the achievements of women and encouraging their professional development in finance. FINCAD would like to congratulate scholarship recipients Caty Liu from Simon Fraser University and Dina Vaysman of Cornell University.
