Universal Pest Solutions, LP Announces Game-Changing New Mosquito Control Technology
DALLAS, May 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Universal Pest Solutions, LP, a leading mosquito control product manufacturer, announced today the launch of its new Attractive Targeted Sugar Bait Mosquito Concentrate or ATSB®. Marketed under the brand name Terminix® ALLCLEAR®, this patented, breakthrough mosquito control technology marks one of the first technological advancements in mosquito control in over a decade.
ATSB® works by attracting, killing, and then collapsing the toughest of mosquito species, including hard-to-control urban species such as the tiger mosquito, or Aedes albopictus. While the concept of sugar baiting insects has been researched for some time, this is the first time it has been developed into a commercially viable and proven-effective mosquito control product.
Universal Pest Solutions, LP has the exclusive rights to market ATSB® in the United States from FASST Products, LLC of Rockville Center, NY. Universal Pest Solutions currently sells ATSB® exclusively to Terminix International in the professional pest control market and to ADAPCO in the municipal mosquito market, and has plans to broaden the reach to other channels in 2015 and beyond.
"We are thrilled to bring ATSB® mosquito control technology to our customers. We've seen a groundswell of excitement from the mosquito control community, municipalities, and other experts in anticipation of a new, proven tool to combat these difficult to control insects," says Laura Uggerholt, president, Universal Pest Solutions.
ATSB® is an environmentally friendly, EPA-exempt formula developed and patented by Westham Co., an Israeli and Dallas, Texas based company. The formula contains sugar from fruit extracts and encapsulated garlic oil that are safe to use around people, pets, and food. Both male and female mosquitoes need to feed on sugar for survival. The special combination of fruit extracts in the formula acts as a bait to specifically attract mosquitoes searching for a sugar meal, and the encapsulated garlic is a gut toxin. After the mosquitoes ingest the bait, they typically die within 48 hours.
Studies conducted around the world show more than a 90% reduction in mosquito populations three weeks post application. Additional research shows that female mosquitoes, the ones that bite humans, do not seek a blood meal after ingesting ATSB®.
