Univar's ChemCare Waste Management Service Recognized for Safety Excellence in Houston

REDMOND, Wash., June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ChemCare®, the innovative waste management service from Univar USA Inc., was recently recognized for outstanding safety performance at its Houston operations as the winner of the 2014 Contractor Safety Excellence Award from the Houston Business Roundtable (HBR) and the Houston Area Safety Council (HASC). ChemCare was nominated for their overall safety programs and performance on-site managed services for waste management and disposal.

The HBR first began recognizing industrial contractors in the greater Houston area for their outstanding safety performance in 1988. Since then, the award process has driven a cooperative effort between owner companies in the Gulf Coast together with their Contractors to improve on-site safety, eliminate accidents, and reduce injuries to employees. Nominations for the HBR Safety Excellence Award are made by the users of the contractor's services and there are no self-nominations. Nominees are evaluated on their verifiable safety performance data for the previous calendar year, as well as through site audits, reviews of site safety programs, and employee interviews. More than 100 specific safety items are evaluated and rated as part of the award selection process.
