Unity College to Host Meet and Greet Event for Houston Students
College seeks to find future environmental leaders in Texas, with several area learners interested in experiential sustainability-based education
UNITY, Maine, March 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Students from all over the country come to study at Unity College's Flagship campus in Unity, Maine, because of their passion for sustainability and desire to become the environmental leaders of tomorrow. These are the students who aren't content sitting in a classroom and listening to lectures for four years. Unity College students are ambitious and are eager to get their hands in the soil or to head out into the field to conduct challenging primary research as undergraduates.
Unity College has identified several locations where students who exemplify those characteristics are prevalent, including Houston, Texas. The College will hold a Meet and Greet event at the Houston Museum of Natural Science's Brown Gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, to encourage prospective students and their families to find out more about the College.
"Students who attend this event will quickly discover that Unity College is unlike any other school they're looking at," said Unity College President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury. "We pride ourselves on our experiential curriculum, and have enhanced it for first- and second-year students through TERRAIN, which offers a hands-on, real-world educational approach that goes way beyond the classroom through expeditions and short courses."
Senior high school students interested in Fall 2020 will be able to receive on-the-spot admissions decisions at the event, and all students can get all their questions answered. Light refreshments will be served and there will be free parking and access to permanent exhibits at the museum.
Those interested in attending are asked to fill out the registration form at unity.edu/houston.
