United Way and The Main Line Chamber of Commerce Honor PECO for Outstanding Community Leadership
Fourth Annual United Way Regional Impact Award presented at The Main Line Chamber Red Carpet Dinner
PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Main Line Chamber of Commerce (MLCC) and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) have honored PECO with the fourth annual United Way Regional Impact Award. Craig L. Adams, PECO president and CEO, accepted the award on behalf of the company during the MLCC Red Carpet Dinner on December 10.
The United Way Regional Impact Award, presented to a company that exemplifies commitment to the community as embodied by United Way, is a part of the Main Line Gives Back Awards, a MLCC recognition created to honor companies for their efforts to enhance the community through support for nonprofits and other community-focused endeavors.
"PECO has been a longtime supporter of United Way's work to transform the lives of children, adults, families and seniors in the region," said Anthony J. Conti, interim president and CEO of UWGPSNJ. "It is an honor to thank and recognize the contributions of PECO and its employees because they are an important partner in helping to improve education, income, health and access to basic needs for so many community members. With the support of PECO, we are able to create even more Impact for our region's most vulnerable neighbors."
PECO invests in organizations in the community that address needs in education, neighborhood development, the environment, and arts and culture. The company has consistently been lauded by United Way for its support throughout the years. As a top corporate partner, PECO generously contributes to United Way's Impact Fund, annual campaign and sponsors special events. Leaders from the company also serve on UWGPSNJ's Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet, providing valuable operational guidance, insight and contributions.
"Recognizing PECO for its contributions to United Way and the community is a true representation of how the business and nonprofit sectors come together to make a difference where we all live and work," said Bernard Dagenais, president and CEO of The Main Line Chamber of Commerce. "It's important to encourage, commend and bring collaboration like this to the forefront – it's the very essence of the award. Through this type of partnership and work, we can strengthen the bottom line for our communities-at-large for years to come, which is a win for us all."
The Main Line Gives Back Awards program was part of the Red Carpet Dinner, which was held at Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, Pa. City of Philadelphia Mayor Michael A.
