United Way and Main Line Chamber of Commerce Honor Enterprise Holdings Inc. for Outstanding Community Leadership
Third Annual United Way Regional Impact Award presented at Main Line Chamber Red Carpet Dinner
PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Main Line Chamber of Commerce (MLCC) and United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ) have honored Enterprise Holdings Inc. with the third annual United Way Regional Impact Award. Robert J. Keyes, vice president and general manager, accepted the award on behalf of Enterprise Holdings Inc. during the MLCC Red Carpet Dinner on December 3.
The United Way Regional Impact Award, presented to a company that exemplifies commitment to the community as embodied by United Way, is a part of the Main Line Gives Back Awards, a MLCC recognition created to honor companies for their efforts to enhance the community through support for nonprofits and other community-focused endeavors.
"We are excited and proud to join the Main Line Chamber of Commerce in recognizing Enterprise for this well-deserved award," said Jill Michal, president and CEO of UWGPSNJ. "Enterprise's outstanding leadership in community support and engagement speaks volumes about their passion to improve communities where their customers and employees live and work. It's this kind of support from volunteer leaders and corporate partners that allow us to drive measurable, lasting impact that none of us can achieve alone."
Enterprise Holdings Inc. contributes to a number of organizations and initiatives that improve lives throughout the region. Employee support for Ronald McDonald House Charities helps children and families facing significant health challenges, and their work with Cradles to Crayons ensures that children facing homelessness and living in low-income environments have the essentials they need to grow. Enterprise also hosted a special event that raised money to help bring stability back to people's lives when Superstorm Sandy hit the region last fall. In addition, Enterprise employees serve on UWGPSNJ boards and committees, participate in large-scale United Way volunteer events such as United2Feed and the annual Day of Caring, generously contribute to United Way's annual campaign and Impact Fund, and the company sponsors UWGPSNJ's annual Women's Initiative Gala in support of underserved girls.
"This award not only honors the work of Enterprise with United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and other local nonprofit organizations," said Bernard Dagenais, president and CEO of The Main Line Chamber of Commerce. "It's really a reflection on the importance of strong cooperation between the region's businesses and the nonprofit organizations that serve critical needs for people in Greater Philadelphia. Collaborations such as the ones between Enterprise and the nonprofit sector are essential and it's important to recognize and encourage them. This is why we created the award to begin with."
The Main Line Gives Back Awards program was part of the Red Carpet Dinner, which was held at Drexelbrook in Drexel Hill, Pa. The program featured Keynote Speaker Pennsylvania Governor Thomas W. Corbett. To learn more about volunteering opportunities with UWGPSNJ, visit www.UnitedForImpact.org/volunteer. For more information on the Main Line Chamber event, visit www.mlcc.org.
