United States Mint to Launch Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coin in St. Louis

WASHINGTON, May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Mint will hold a launch ceremony and coin exchange on May 19, 2011, to celebrate the release of the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential $1 Coin.  The ceremony will take place at the Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site in St. Louis, Mo., at 2 p.m. Central Time (CT).  May 19 also marks the 148th anniversary of Grant's historic military campaign in Vicksburg, Miss.

Following the ceremony, adults may exchange their currency for 25-coin rolls of uncirculated Ulysses S. Grant $1 Coins.  Children 18 years old and younger will receive a new Ulysses S. Grant $1 Coin to commemorate the event.

The Ulysses S. Grant $1 Coin is the 18th release in the United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Program, authorized by Public Law 109-145 (the Presidential Dollar Coin Act of 2005).  The Act directs the United States Mint to strike and issue four $1 coins each year featuring the images of our Nation's presidents in the order that they served in office.
