United States Mint to Introduce Abraham Lincoln Presidential $1 Coin on 147th Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address
WASHINGTON, Nov. 10, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Mint will introduce the Abraham Lincoln Presidential $1 Coin on November 19, the 147th anniversary of the delivery of his famous Gettysburg Address. The ceremony will take place 10 a.m. Eastern Time (ET) at President Lincoln's Cottage located on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in northwest Washington, D.C. Following the ceremony, the public can exchange their cash for 25-coin rolls of the Abraham Lincoln $1 Coins. Children 18 years old and younger will receive a new Abraham Lincoln $1 Coin to commemorate the event.
Note: Since the ceremony is being held on the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, and because space is limited, those attending the ceremony are asked to be respectful of the residents and stay within the immediate grounds of the Cottage.

Public Law 109-145 -- the Presidential Dollar Coin Act of 2005 -- authorizes the United States Mint to strike and issue four $1 coins each year with images of our Nation's presidents in the order that they served in office. The Abraham Lincoln $1 Coin is the 16th release in the United States Mint Presidential $1 Coin Program. The coin will be available at banks and financial institutions beginning November 18.
