United States Mint, National Park Service to Launch Gettysburg National Military Park Quarter January 25
WASHINGTON, Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Officials from the United States Mint and the National Park Service will launch the Gettysburg National Military Park on January 25, 11 a.m. Eastern Time (EST), at the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center. Invited guests include Governor Tom Corbett, First Lady Susan Manbeck Corbett and Gettysburg Foundation President Bob Kinsley. Following the ceremony, the public can exchange their cash for $10 rolls of the Gettysburg National Military Park America the Beautiful Quarter at face value. Children 18 years and younger will receive a new Gettysburg National Military Park America the Beautiful Quarter to commemorate the event.

In addition to the launch ceremony for the Gettysburg National Military Park quarter, the United States Mint will hold a Coin Forum on Monday evening, January 24, at 5:30 p.m. EST. The Coin Forum is an opportunity for the public to express their views about future coinage, and to learn about upcoming United States Mint coin programs and initiatives. The event will be held in the Ford Motor Company Fund Education Center at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum and Visitor Center.
The America the Beautiful Quarters Program, authorized by public Law 110-456, is a 12-year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites. Each year, the public will see five new national sites depicted on the reverse (tails side) of the America the Beautiful Quarters. The United States Mint will issue these quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
