SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Last evening, the United States Air Force (USAF) awarded GOBankingRates' San Antonio-based client Air Force Federal Credit Union the distinction of 2013 Credit Union of the Year in the "less than $1 billion in assets" category at the Defense Credit Union Council Annual Conference in Dallas. Established in 1992, the annual USAF award recognizes credit unions that provide the Air Force community superior customer service, high-quality financial products and catered support.

Air Force FCU has served numerous San Antonio residents, especially by offering one-on-one support during the 2013 government shutdown, bridging loans at low interest rates and deferring loan payments. Furthermore, Air Force FCU has offered financial management classes to more than 4,000 military personnel as well as Wounded Warrior Project TRACK students, and helped preserve the USAF's historical contributions through its partnership with the Airman Heritage Foundation.
