The Kids Sports Spectacular is a free, one-day, indoor event that features instruction and educational clinics on wheelchair basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, track & field, hand cycling and karate.
Participants will receive instruction from professional wheelchair athletes, including U.S. Paralympian Margaret "Maggie" Redden who has competed in the Junior National Wheelchair Championships in track & field since she was five years old. Redden also won a silver medal at the Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and is currently the community outreach coordinator for Paralympic Sport Clubs NJ.
"I have been an athlete from a very young age and sports have had a monumental impact on my life," said Redden.
"Sports teach so much more than how to excel on the competition field. They teach time management, goal setting, sportsmanship, and perseverance. They provide a safe environment to grow and expand your horizons, no matter your ability level. As a Beijing paralympian, I can attest that all of that is true and I want others to experience the same," she added.
There will be giveaways and free prizes for all attendees courtesy of Comcast Spectacor Foundation/Flyers Wives and Sports Authority.
Free lunch and refreshments will be provided.
Exhibitors will include:
- NSCIA, a program of United Spinal Association
- MossRehab, Einstein Healthcare Network
- Bayada Home Health Care
- Permobil
- Archer & Greiner, P.C.
- Campbell's Soup
- TOPSoccer of Marlton, NJ
