NEW YORK, Dec. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United Spinal Association, the single, largest membership organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with spinal cord injuries and diseases (SCI/D) nationwide, today announced the re-deployment of its expanded resource center at www.spinalcord.org.
The Spinal Cord Resource Center was designed by United Spinal as a hub to connect people living with SCI/D, as well as their loved ones and care providers, to timely resources and support.
"With over 65 years of service to the SCI/D community, United Spinal understands how critical it is to reach out to people with useful information and a positive perspective on living with a disability when they need it the most, early in their rehabilitation," said Joe Gaskins, United Spinal's president and CEO.
The Spinal Cord Resource Center currently offers its 60k monthly unique visitors:
- basics of living with SCI/D
- state and local resources
- info on United Spinal membership (free)
- access to a national peer support network
- timely assistance from SCI/D information specialists
- upcoming webinars on a variety of SCI/D-related topics
- directory of affiliated service and care providers
Spinalcord.org also includes a section dedicated to sharing information on the Spinal Network, composed of peer support groups and United Spinal chapter affiliates that work together to set higher standards in assisting people living with SCI/D.
In 2013, United Spinal and The Buoniconti Fund created the Spinal Network with generous support from Founding Corporate Sponsor Hollister, Inc. to address the need for improved coordination between peer support groups in cities and towns across the country in sharing vital resources and helping people with SCI/D maintain their independence and quality of life.
"We have accomplished a great deal this past year to strengthen United Spinal Association and prepare the organization for a successful and rewarding future. Our Spinal Cord Resource Center is a big part of our revitalized commitment to serving the SCI/D community," added Gaskins.
