United Nations Federal Credit Union Expands Footprint To Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To meet the financial needs of its more than 2,200 members across the Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington, D.C.- corridor, United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) today opened its first branch in Washington, D.C., located at 1775 Pennsylvania Avenue.
The new 2,880-square foot facility with an entrance on H Street, offers members a full-suite of loan products and services, including a wide array of mortgage options, as well as insurance and investment services. Its proximity to international organizations, such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and UN Foundation, now enables UNFCU to offer members easy access, great convenience and expertise.
"With a large concentration of UNFCU's field of membership located in the metro DC area and the opportunity to provide in-person services to existing members, our branch expansion into this market is ideal," said Pamela Agnone, senior vice president of Retail Services at UNFCU. "As experts in lending to the UN community, we fill an important niche for international borrowers who value personalized service, competitive rates and financial education."
The addition of United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) to UNFCU's field of membership earlier in the year offered UNFCU additional growth and member engagement.
"We have the opportunity to meet the mortgage, lending, investment and insurance needs of more members in the DC region. This is especially true now that individuals who support UN causes can join UNFCU after becoming members of UNA-USA, which shares our mission," said Raymond Friday, branch manager. "As a portfolio lender, our mortgage programs are highly-competitive and our seasoned investment advisors not only understand how a change in a member's residency can impact their investments, they will provide effective guidance."
To celebrate the opening of the branch, UNFCU is hosting an all day Open House, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 12:30 p.m. To further mark its arrival, UNFCU recently sponsored D.C.-based UN Foundation's Girl Up Leadership Summit and plans to continue its involvement with the organization.
For the new facility, UNFCU will also seek the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, (LEED), certification from the U.S. Green Building Council in keeping with its Board-mandated social responsibility programs and award-winning green headquarters in Long Island City, New York.
