United Launch Alliance Donates $50,000 to Alabama Disaster Relief Efforts
Funds to Support Efforts in Hard Hit Counties
CENTENNIAL, Colo., May 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- United Launch Alliance (ULA) today announced it will donate $50,000 to Alabama disaster relief efforts in hard-hit counties through the American Red Cross.
"Our hearts go out to everyone affected by last week's tornados, including our 701 Alabama employees and their families," says Michael C. Gass, ULA president and CEO. "As President Obama said, we can't control Mother Nature but we can control our response to this crisis and support each other. Our corporate funding and donations from our employees are small steps in helping Alabama rebuild."
Much of ULA's manufacturing, assembly, and integration operations are located at its Decatur, Ala., factory. Several ULA employees suffered property damage from the severe weather. ULA also has established a relief fund for its employees.
ULA has 3,650 employees nationwide. ULA program management, engineering, test and mission support functions are headquartered in Denver, Colo. Other manufacturing is located in Harlingen, Tex., and San Diego, Calif. Launch operations are located at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., and Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.
