United Chinese Americans (UCA) Convenes "2018 Chinese American Convention" Amid Worsening US-China Relations and With Tighter Governmental Scrutiny Over Chinese American Scientific Community
WASHINGTON, Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- United Chinese Americans (ucausa.org), the largest Chinese American federation dedicated to civic engagement and political participation, based in Washington DC, shall convene "2018 Chinese American Convention" from September 27 to 29, at Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA 22202.
At a time of increasing tension between the United States and China, with a trade war threatening to unravel the world economic prospects, and with a much more stringent governmental scrutiny over the scientific and civic exchange between the two countries, 2018 Chinese American Convention, one of the largest of its kind, will address those concerns and issues from a unique perspective of Chinese Americans, a critical ethnic minority that bridges the two countries but often bear the brunt of the conflict or tension between the two countries.
Convention topics include US-China trade war, Chinese American civil rights history and political movement, current governmental scrutiny over the Chinese American scientific community, how to properly conduct scientific and technological exchange as immigrants, among many other topics.
The Convention will present awards to outstanding Chinese Americans who have served the community and country with distinction and honor. Former Ambassador to China Gary Locke will give a keynote speech at the Gala Award Dinner on September 28.
