CHICAGO, March 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- United Airlines announced today that it has renewed its partnership with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) and will be the official airline of the organization's special events throughout 2015.
"United is pleased to continue its support for the NAHJ," said Dave Messing, United's vice president, corporate communications. "At United, we value an inclusive work environment characterized by dignity and respect, which aligns well with the NAHJ's advocacy for accurate and fair treatment of Hispanics by the news media. We're proud that our support helps NAHJ offer career-development opportunities for Hispanics in the news industry and provide scholarships to aspiring journalism students."
The United-NAHJ partnership includes "Platinum" level sponsorship of NAHJ's participation in the 2015 Excellence in Journalism Conference, to be held Sept. 18-20 in Orlando, Fla., in conjunction with the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio Television Digital News Association. United also will be title sponsor of a one-day conference on investigative journalism in Mexico City in October, and several local NAHJ chapter and regional events around the country throughout the year, including a Latinas in the Media conference at the City University of New York on March 28.
"We are excited to have United Airlines front and center at our 'Latinas' conference in New York City in March," said Mekahlo Medina, NAHJ President. "United has always been at the forefront of diversity in its industry and the company's continued support of NAHJ makes it possible for us to advocate for Latino journalists across the country and to fight for the fair and accurate representation of Latinos in media everywhere."
United began its support of the NAHJ in 2006.
