Unisys to Transition Department of Energy Program Employees to Cloud-Based Google Apps for Government Solution

BLUE BELL, Pa., Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --  Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that it has been awarded a contract to transition 6,000 additional U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) program personnel to Google Apps for Government, a cloud-based email and collaboration solution.

The project is the most recent example of Unisys success helping government agencies achieve the savings and efficiencies of cloud-based solutions. Last year, Unisys announced it had completed the transition of 5,000 employees at the Department of Energy's Idaho National Laboratory to the cloud-based solution.

The transition is designed to allow the DOE to obtain the cost-cutting advantages of the cloud while giving employees secure and efficient access to email and other data. The solution includes the integration of the department's mobile users.

In May of this year, Unisys also completed a similar transition of 4,500 employees at the National Archives and Records Administration, a project selected for a Government Computer News Award for "showing technical creativity, a willingness to test emerging technologies and the perseverance to push for big, cross-agency IT improvements in an era of budget and cost cutting."
