Unisys Named Finalist for 16th Annual Minnesota High Tech Association Tekne Awards
Honored for achievement in ClearPath software, Unisys joins Minnesota's top technology companies and individuals at November 18 awards ceremony
BLUE BELL, Pa., Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) has named Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) as a finalist in the Software – Established Companies category for the 2015 Tekne Awards, which will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Wednesday, November 18. The Tekne Awards honor Minnesota companies and individuals who have shown superior technology innovation and leadership.
MHTA recognized Unisys for its achievement in transitioning the core architecture of the flagship Unisys ClearPath computers from proprietary hardware technology to a software-based fabric computing infrastructure running on Intel processors. The fabric architecture links all computing resources and components via high-speed interconnects, with Unisys secure partitioning (s‑Par®) software managing all application workloads.
This software-enabled computing architecture eliminates contention among applications for computing resources and enables fast, predictable application performance with exceptional security. ClearPath clients can migrate applications from earlier models to the fabric-enabled systems transparently, while retaining the high application performance to which they have become accustomed and building on their long-term investment in ClearPath technology.
"We are honored to receive this recognition," said Chuck Lefebvre, director of Unisys' Roseville, Minnesota Technology Center, home to many of the ClearPath software engineers. "Like all our fellow finalists, we are proud of the great work our team has done and pleased to continue making a significant contribution to the high-tech industry in Minnesota."
The 16th annual Tekne Awards program will begin at 4:30 p.m. Central Time on November 18, with a VIP registration and reception, followed by general registration and cocktails at 5 p.m. The awards ceremony will commence at 7 p.m., with a post-event reception at 8:30 p.m. Amelia Santaniello, anchor for Minneapolis' WCCO-TV, will emcee the event.
