Unisys Federal Systems Obtains New International Certification for Managed IT Services
Company receives revised ISO/IEC 20000 certification for quality of data center services and work for Defense Finance and Accounting Service
BLUE BELL, Pa., Jan. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that its Federal Systems division was recently certified as compliant with the updated international ISO/IEC 20000 standard, which evaluates best practices for delivering managed IT services.
The certification measures the company's approach and capability in delivering world-class IT managed services, including data center management and technical support services, to external client organizations.
Unisys Federal Systems received the certification for the overall ISO/IEC 20000 framework it uses to deliver data center services as well as its specific work on the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Desktop Management Initiative (DMI) II contract.
The ISO/IEC 20000 certification, presented by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), is the first internationally recognized standard evaluating IT service management, the principal measure of IT quality within an organization. Earlier this year, ISO/IEC revised the standard to include more stringent security requirements and other upgrades.
In 2009, Unisys won a task order for the DFAS DMI II project to provide a suite of managed desktop and help desk services for more than 14,000 desktop and laptop computers.
With the new certification, the Unisys team working on the DMI II project has been benchmarked as a leader in data center management best practices with repeatable and standardized business processes evaluated as among the best in the world.
Unisys has long been a leader in achieving ISO/IEC 20000 certifications. Aside from Unisys Federal Systems, the Unisys Global Managed Services group has achieved ISO 20000 certification under the previous iteration of the standard. Last year, Unisys assisted the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Mid-Tier Data Center in Atlanta in obtaining one of the first ISO/IEC 20000 certifications awarded to a U.S. federal government data center.
"Unisys is committed to providing consistently high levels of quality services to our clients," said Peter Gallagher, managing partner of portfolio solutions, Unisys Federal Systems. "We are pleased to receive this extremely rigorous quality certification for the services we provide through our data centers."
