Unisys Cloud-Based Service Management Offering Selected to Participate in Accelerated Process for U.S. Government FedRAMP Certification for Quality and Security
Unisys solution passes initial security review for cloud-based products and services
BLUE BELL, Pa., April 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that the company's Service Management Government Cloud offering will be included in a pilot program led by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to speed up reviews for compliance to U.S. government standards for quality and security of cloud-based products and services.
Unisys was selected by the GSA as one of three cloud service providers to participate in the pilot for the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Accelerated process. The FedRAMP Accelerated process aims to reduce authorization timeframes from the current range of six to 18 months down to less than six.
Unisys' Service Management Government Cloud offering has passed through an initial FedRAMP security assessment and is now undergoing more detailed reviews. Unisys expects that process to be completed more quickly as a result of its acceptance into the FedRAMP Accelerated pilot program with completion expected in July 2016.
The offering is based on Unisys' industry-leading global commercial solution, used by more than 100 enterprises worldwide and integrated with leading ITSM software solutions. It is currently designated as "FedRAMP Ready" and is designed to meet the stringent security requirements of the Department of Defense.
FedRAMP provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. The program is the result of collaboration between GSA, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, the National Security Agency, the Office of Management and Budget, and the Federal Chief Information Officer Council and its working groups.
"We look forward to working with Unisys to help expedite the FedRAMP approval process for them as well as other vendors," said Matt Goodrich, FedRAMP director at GSA. "Ultimately, this will mean greater availability of high-quality and more secure cloud services for government agencies."
Delivered via a true as-a-service model, the Unisys Service Management Government Cloud offering allows clients to access their own instances of BMC Remedy or ServiceNow, coupled with the situational awareness and user accessibility capabilities of the Unisys VantagePoint™ service orchestration solution. It provides government agencies with unique capabilities to optimize their IT infrastructures and improve services to end users.
"We are pleased to have been selected by the government to participate in the FedRAMP Accelerated pilot program," said Jim Leake, vice president of end user services at Unisys Federal. "Completion of this process will allow our clients like the U.S. Army to leverage a compelling commercial capability that conforms to high standards for security and quality."
