Unirac and KYOCERA Partner to Create Modern 1.16 MW PV Installation on Historic New Jersey Site
Unirac Infrastructure Chosen for Groundbreaking Installation Rate, Zero Fabrication and Unequaled Strength-to-Weight Ratio
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., July 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Unirac, Inc., North America's leading provider of infrastructure for solar power systems, announced today that it has teamed with Kyocera Solar, Inc. to update the historic Masonic Lodge of New Jersey with a 1.16MW solar installation. Designed by NJ Solar Power, the solar installation is framed with Unirac's innovative PV mounting solution, the ISYS Ground Mount (IGM), and equipped with 5,656 Kyocera Solar KD205 modules. It will generate approximately 1,547,412 kWh of solar energy a year, reducing both the Masonic Lodge's carbon footprint and its utility expenses.
"Unirac's dedication to being an industry leader is manifested in its products," said Unirac CEO Doug May. "The IGM is designed to be an incredibly cost-effective system with the most scalable supply chain possible. Its groundbreaking installation rate of more than 10 modules per man-hour, components that require zero fabrication, and extreme strength-to-weight ratio make IGM the clear choice for large-scale PV projects," May added.
Preassembly is one of IGM's outstanding benefits — especially in locations like the Northeast, where on-site assembly can be thwarted by inclement weather. Module preassembly capability means that up to 30 percent of overall project labor can be performed indoors or on-site in a shelter, protected from the elements. This not only allows for increased installation speeds but also contributes to reduced labor rates and lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
"As a world leading supplier of solar energy solutions, Kyocera partners with companies that share our commitment to quality and innovation — practices that Unirac consistently demonstrates with its advanced product line and industry expertise," stated Steve Hill, president of Kyocera Solar, Inc.
Unirac's full line of innovative PV mounting solutions, including the ISYS Ground Mount system used in this New Jersey installation, will be on display in booth 7610 at the Intersolar North America trade show, held July 12-14 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
