Uniquely Aged Libations Featured At The 10th Annual Pittsburgh Whiskey And Fine Spirits Festival
PITTSBURGH, Oct. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- "I love getting guests' reactions! Whether they are sampling our traditional Jefferson products, or one of our innovations, it is always exciting to see their enjoyment," says Dan LeFever, a Castle Brands representative.
LeFever will be showcasing a variety of innovative, out-of-the-box bourbon concepts at this year's festival. In particular, the Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Bourbon 90 Proof is set apart by its unique aging process. The bourbon is aged in Kentucky for about seven years, and then is sent on a voyage at sea for a year. During the voyage, the barrels cross the equator four times. The whiskey is consistently in motion due to the rocking sea, and subject to extreme temperature fluctuations. "The motion and temperature changes cause the whiskey to take on new and unique flavor profiles. Some say it tastes like a salted caramel," explains LeFever.
The Pittsburgh Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival returns to Rivers Casino on Friday, October 28th. Over 1,500 guests are invited to this year's island-themed festival to sample luxury liquors and discover new products. A full buffet and entertainment will be available.
Herman Mihalich, the Founder and Distiller at Dad's Hat Rye Whiskey, outside Philadelphia, will be back for his third year. "I grew up in the Mon Valley, and I love returning to Pittsburgh to see old friends and meet new people. My Grandfather and Father owned a tavern in Monessen that my Grandfather started as a speakeasy during Prohibition. Pittsburgh and Rye Whiskey are in my blood," says Mihalich.
Mihalich is exceptionally proud to be debuting his Dad's Hat Pennsylvania Straight Rye Whiskey, a three to four year-old straight rye whiskey, currently available in limited quantities. "It was very tempting to release it earlier, but we waited and gave it the right amount of time to age," says Mihalich.
Tickets are available at PittsburghWhiskeyFestival.com for $100. An additional $5 donation will be added to every ticket to be donated directly to this year's beneficiary, Animal Friends.
The 2016 Pittsburgh Whiskey and Fine Spirits Festival is produced by the Pittsburgh Wine Festival LLC, and sponsored by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board and zTrip.
