OMAHA, Neb., March 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Union Pacific's board of directors today named Eric L. Butler executive vice president – Marketing and Sales. Butler succeeds Jack Koraleski, who recently was appointed acting president and CEO while Chairman Jim Young is on medical leave.

Butler has nearly 26 years' experience with the railroad, most recently serving as vice president and general manager – Industrial Products. He previously held a variety of leadership roles in departments such as Supply, Finance and Human Resources. Butler earned his undergraduate degree and MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University.

Union Pacific promoted Bradley A. Thrasher to vice president and general manager – Industrial Products, succeeding Butler. Thrasher has 24 years' experience with Union Pacific, most recently serving as assistant vice president and general manager – Union Pacific Distribution Services (UPDS). He earned his degree in business administration from Creighton University.
Kate M. Betsworth has been promoted to assistant vice president and general manager – UPDS. She has more than 18 years' experience with Union Pacific, most recently as assistant vice president – Industrial Products. Betsworth earned her degree in business administration from Iowa State University.
