Union Debuts State-Of-The-Art Bank Branch
RICHMOND, Va., Nov. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Union First Market Bank to open a state-of-the-art branch located inside the MARTIN'S Food Market at 200 Charter Colony Parkway in Midlothian, Virginia. The store will open on Friday, Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. following a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Charter Colony branch is a relocation from the closed Sycamore Square MARTIN'S Food Market.
"With this new in-store branch concept, Union debuts a 21st-century banking experience that's the first of its kind for any community bank in Virginia," says Elizabeth Bentley, EVP and chief retail officer for Union. "By leveraging forward-thinking design and technology, we're now able to engage with customers – whether the branch is open or closed – in new and exciting ways."
When designing the Charter Colony space, every decision – from decor to digital displays – was made with the customer relationship taking center stage. Union's goal was to create a positive interaction at every step and, in so doing, completely transform the experience of visiting a bank branch.
Removing Barriers through Architectural Design
Traditional bank branches are designed with barriers between tellers and customers. Union's new branch employs cutting-edge cash dispenser technology to allow financial services advisors to move freely around the space and interact with customers. Because the branch is full service – offering everything from financial planning to mortgages – there is also a conference room for privacy.
Strengthening Relationships with Technology
The design of the branch also promotes deeper customer engagement through the use of technology. An iPad station on one wall provides demos of Union financial products, as well as relevant content like a holiday spending calculator, checking account comparison, and a KidsZone app that features financial literacy games. Customers will also be able to demo Union's mobile banking, apps and self-service banking applications. Another digital display area offers ideas for making banking with Union more convenient. Financial services advisors are on hand to answer questions and offer advice.
Driving Interaction with Dynamic Media
State-of-the-art dynamic media is the central feature of the branch. A touch screen measuring almost 3 feet by 6 feet enables customers to interact on a variety of levels. They can swipe for local news and weather, get recipe ideas, take selfies, or try out the Compliment Generator, which always has something nice to say.
