Rally outside Rep. Lamborn's office to highlight harmful legislative agenda
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Constituents from U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn's congressional district will join with leaders from the nation's largest federal employee union to protest the congressman's anti-worker legislative agenda on Tuesday.
The American Federation of Government Employees is organizing the rally outside Rep. Lamborn's office to bring attention to policies being championed by the legislator that would harm federal employees and constituents in Colorado and across the country. The rally is part of AFGE's Fight Back campaign and the AFL-CIO's Summer of Accountability.
Rep. Lamborn has voted to cut 10 percent of all federal jobs in Colorado and across the country. This would mean a loss of nearly 1,100 jobs in his district or $43 million in lost revenue. He has also supported policies to cut funding for programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid while rejecting efforts to raise revenue by increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans and corporations.
