Meeting in Rep. Griffin's Little Rock district to highlight harmful legislative agenda
LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Aug. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Constituents from U.S. Rep. Tim Griffin's congressional district will join with leaders from the nation's largest federal employee union to highlight the congressman's anti-worker legislative agenda on Tuesday.
The American Federation of Government Employees is helping to organize the town hall meeting in Rep. Griffin's congressional district to bring attention to policies being championed by the legislator that would harm federal employees and constituents in Arkansas and across the country. The forum is part of AFGE's Fight Back campaign and the AFL-CIO's Summer of Accountability events.
Rep. Griffin has voted to cut 10 percent of all federal jobs in Arkansas and across the country. This would mean a loss of nearly 900 jobs in his district, or $36 million in lost revenue. He has also supported policies to cut funding for programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid while rejecting efforts to raise revenue by increasing taxes on the wealthiest Americans and corporations.
