HANNOVER, Germany, March 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- CeBIT -- Unify, formerly known as Siemens Enterprise Communications, today announced the next software release of the industry-leading OpenScape Enterprise with enhancements to quickly and securely equip customers with the collaboration benefits required to support the New Way to Work (#NW2W). The updates to the OpenScape UC and OpenScape Voice applications deliver a new, intuitive user interface and security and reliability enhancements to ensure today's "Anywhere Worker" can easily collaborate at any time and from any location. The announcement was made at CeBIT, the world's largest international ICT trade fair, held at Hannover, Germany March 10-14.
"Unify has a long history of delivering the most advanced communication and collaboration tools, and with the latest enhancements to our OpenScape Enterprise portfolio, we've made these tools even more intuitive, easy to use, reliable and open," said Eve Aretakis, executive vice president, Product Management and Development for Unify. "The New Way to Work is here, and we are committed to providing our customers with a collaboration experience that works the way their users want and empowers their teams to stay connected, responsive, and collaborate seamlessly."
OpenScape UC - the New Way to Work
Recognizing the need for teams and users to better collaborate and engage, the latest version of OpenScape UC includes a completely redesigned user interface to enhance the user experience and improve productivity. Designed with frog, a leader in global product strategy and user experience, the new user interface for both Web and desktop clients provides a more visual and intuitive experience. Leveraging the same design principles used in Project Ansible - the upcoming real-time collaboration platform from Unify - OpenScape UC is workflow- and collaboration-oriented to provide a more joyful and productive experience.
Unify's OpenScape UC brings virtual teams together with rich federated presence, mobility, one number service, application plug-ins, and audio/web/desktop video conferencing capabilities. To further support mobile anywhere workers, OpenScape UC is now available for Android tablets in addition to iPads and both iOS and Android smartphones.
OpenScape Voice - security and operational efficiency
Addressing the challenge of running the enterprise network smoothly and efficiently, the new release of OpenScape Voice introduces key enhancements designed to increase security, reliability and interoperability. Key OpenScape Voice highlights in this latest software release are:
- SIP Connect 1.1 compliance - This is an industry-wide standard ensuring compatibility between SIP-enabled platforms (like OpenScape Voice) to VoIP Service Provider networks. BITKOM, Germany's national regulation authority has started to endorse this standard. Unify is an active, participating member of the SIPconnect SIP Forum.
- SIPQ Version 2 - provides additional support for multi-vendor networks where integration of third party PBX systems allows customers to leverage existing investment.
- Trusted Business Groups for Hosted and Cloud Deployments - ensures that business applications are easily and securely partitioned by specific user communities.
- Additional automation for branch offices - a new configuration capability automatically synchronizes user data, which speeds deployment and reduces configuration errors.
- QoS Monitoring, reporting, and tracing - quickly isolates service impacting issues and allows customers to verify Service Level Agreements with their VoIP service providers.
