HANNOVER, Germany, March 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CeBIT -- Unify, a leading communications software and services firm, today announced highlights from CEO Dean Douglas' keynote address at CeBIT in Germany, the world's leading IT event. Aligning with the CeBIT theme, "the digital transformation of the global economy," Douglas discussed the emergence of the digital workplace, emphasizing how people's work and their lives are now more integrated than ever before. Douglas called for the need to humanize the digital workplace by transitioning from outdated tools and fragmented applications – to technology helping rather than hindering productivity, engagement, and enjoyment at work. "Technology's ubiquity in the workplace promises a more agile and responsive organization to meet today's accelerating business demands," said Douglas. "However, the opposite is often the case. The need to constantly switch between multiple applications in order to complete work doesn't enable a better way to work—it causes frustration, distraction, and inefficiency. Today's workers need a seamless experience based upon how people actually work, with easy access to real-time information in order to enhance team collaboration, improve productivity, and empower employees to make work life better."
Douglas cited the business benefits of a people-centric user experience, such as that found in Circuit, Unify's next-generation communication and collaboration solution. Designed after years of extensive research about how people work, Circuit combines art and science to work in the way the brain does. It enables contextual communication without the distractions of application switching or the overload of wading through large volumes of email content.
Douglas touched on the latest research around how people work, such as the data from Unify's New Way to Work Index that revealed that while 43% of employees surveyed would prefer flexible "anywhere" working over a 10% pay raise, the same percentage of respondents felt frustrated and overwhelmed by the communication tools they currently use. Additionally, Douglas noted a recent global Gallup study that indicates the vast majority of workers say they are not fully engaged with their work and colleagues.
According to Douglas, the value of enabling a fluid work-life experience continues to grow among today's employees – a human condition that Douglas referred to as 'work-life integration'. He noted that 36% of workers surveyed by Unify would change employers if offered more work place flexibility, and 33% would work on initiatives to directly support more flexible work terms. These statistics point out that the time is now to embrace the new way to work and deliver effective solutions to empower employees to work in the way that they are most productive.
