ORLANDO, Fla. and HANNOVER, Germany, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterprise Connect, CeBIT -- Unify, a leading communications software and services firm and Open-Xchange, a leading vendor of communication and collaboration software for cloud providers, announced today a collaboration to make real-time document editing available inside Circuit, Unify's next-generation communication and collaboration platform. This integration supports the new way to work by providing Circuit users with a more seamless, productive experience when collaborating on Microsoft Office documents from any location. Additionally, Unify announced it has made Circuit's platform APIs available to developers, to enable additional integrations moving forward.
Open-Xchange's OX Text, OX Spreadsheet, and OX Drive are cloud-based software products that can create and edit native Microsoft files as well as the Open/Libre Office equivalent files inside modern browsers, seamlessly in real-time for multiple users. This streamlines and simplifies the collaboration process on these documents, improving productivity and team efficiency. Leveraging Circuit's open platform APIs enables a close integration of OX Text and OX Spreadsheet into the user experience of Circuit.
"Open-Xchange is pleased to leverage Circuit's openness and offer our real-time document editing capability, now also for enterprise users collaborating on Circuit," said Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange. "Editing Word and Excel files in real-time is a great complement to Unify's voice, video and chat capabilities embedded in a Circuit conversation."
"Unify welcomes Open-Xchange to the growing Circuit ecosystem," said Dr. Stefan Ried, CTO of Unify's Product House. "We believe that communication between people and the collaboration around documents should be as simple as possible in a modern cloud service, but also fully synchronized and integrated into an on-premise enterprise environment. Unify and Open-Xchange can deliver on this promise."
The first version of this seamless integration of OX Text, OX Spreadsheet, and OX Drive into Circuit can be seen at Unify's booth at the CeBIT trade show, Hall 13, Booth D38, and is available to Circuit developers. Developers can also find more information on Circuit's open APIs at developers.yourcircuit.com. Open-Xchange users can contact their Open-Xchange operator to access it in Open-Xchange and Circuit. The two companies plan to make additional interoperability scenarios available moving forward.
