TORONTO, June 24, 2015 /CNW/ - Two Unifor locals working at the Bombardier Aerospace plant in Downsview have reached new collective agreements with the company, to be sent for ratification on Sunday.
"We were able to reach deals we are proud to put to the membership thanks to the commitment of the bargaining committees and the support they enjoyed from their members," said Unifor National President Jerry Dias, who began his career at the plant and was active in the negotiations.
The deals cover members of Unifor Local 112 who work in production at the plant, as well as members of Unifor Local 673 who work in office and clerical positions.
Details of the two collective agreements will not be made public until after they have been ratified. The Local 673 ratification meeting will be held at 9:00 am on Sunday, June 28, at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre at 8500 Warden Avenue in Markham. The Local 112 ratification meeting will take place at 11:00 am at the same location.
"This deal came together thanks to a great commitment from our bargaining team," said Scott McIlmoyle, President of Unifor Local 112.
Both local bargaining teams are unanimously recommending that their members ratify the deals.
"We are proud to recommend this deal to our members," said Maryellen McIlmoyle, President of Unifor Local 673.
