Uniboard's new Moncure MDF mill CARB Phase 1 certified
LAVAL, QC, April 29 /PRNewswire/ - Uniboard, a North American leader of manufactured engineered wood products, is pleased to announce that its new Moncure MDF facility, located in North Carolina, has been certified to meet CARB Phase 1 emission standards. The Composite Panel Association (CPA) certified the plant, which is now in start-up process, after determining that it had completed and fulfilled the requirements of CPA 3-08 specification for Environmentally Preferable Products California (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure 93120.
"The certification of our new Moncure MDF mill brings it in line with the rest of our facilities and is an important step in the pre-production start-up process," says Lise Plante, Product Manager, Uniboard. "We are committed to our customers and are pleased to be able to provide them with a wide range of CARB Phase 1 certified medium and high-density fiberboard products from the largest manufacturing production line of its type in North America."
In 2008, the State of California adopted a resolution to address formaldehyde exposure from composite wood products through the establishment of emissions controls. The new rule set upper limits on formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products sold in the state or used to make finished goods offered for sale in the state. The first phase of the regulation, known as CARB Phase 1, took effect on January 1, 2009. All Uniboard products are 100% compliant with CARB Phase 1.
