ROSWELL, N.M., March 2, /PRNewswire/ --  Uncover the mystery and help discover the truth at The Amazing Roswell UFO Festival.  The City of Roswell invites UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike to join in the celebration of one of the most controversial incidents in history this July 1-4, 2010.  The four-day event will feature guest speakers, authors, live entertainment, family-friendly activities and possibly an alien abduction.  Visitors welcome!

The City is expecting thousands of visitors again during the festival this year.  Guests can make their own hypotheses about what led government officials to change their story by visiting the crash site, alien attractions and attending lectures about one of the most infamous cover-ups in history.  Guests are encouraged to make travel arrangements early.  As planning is finalized, more in-depth information will be available via the festival website, www.UFOFestivalRoswell.com.  It will be updated accordingly to include links to accommodations, event schedules and activities.

In early July of 1947, a mysterious object crashed on a ranch north of Roswell.  The Roswell Army Airfield (RAAF) issued a statement claiming to have recovered a crashed "flying disk."  An article regarding the incident ran on the front page of the Roswell Daily Record.  The next day, RAAF changed its statement to say that the recovered object was a weather balloon, not a flying disk as had been previously reported.  This revised statement sparked immediate controversy and has continued to be a topic of debate more than 60 years later.
