UnaliWear to Present at CB Insights A-ha! Demo Day
UnaliWear Selected to Present at CB Insights' First-Ever Demo Day in the Health Category
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- CB Insights today will showcase innovative startups at its first-ever Demo Day where companies can present to investors without giving up any equity.
While more than 2,000 companies applied for the opportunity to pitch at Demo Day, UnaliWear™ was one of 40 companies chosen to present at the A-ha! Conference. CB Insights selected UnaliWear as part of an elite group of startups driving progress in artificial intelligence, fintech, health and bleeding-edge technologies.
"We are thrilled that CB Insights selected UnaliWear to participate in its inaugural Demo Day," says Jean Anne Booth, CEO of UnaliWear. "It is a recognition of the importance of our mission to provide independence with dignity for millions of vulnerable people."
Presenting companies were selected based on two rounds of interviews and questions posed by CB Insights researchers about the company's market traction, product availability, originality, founder expertise, revenue, and funding.
UnaliWear has developed the Kanega watch (and service), featuring a go-everywhere unobtrusive wearable that provides discreet support for falls, medication reminders, and a guard against wandering with "guide-me-home" assistance. Thanks to the patent-pending quick-swap battery system in the band, wearers don't need to take off the watch to charge it. The classically-styled waterproof Kanega watch includes on-board cellular, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth Low Energy (for hearing aids and telemedicine devices), a 9-axis accelerometer for automatic fall detection, and an easy speech interface, combined with artificial intelligence in the cloud that learns the wearer's lifestyle to provide predictive, pre-emptive support for independent but vulnerable populations. UnaliWear recently completed a 150-person, 8 month user experience test all across the US with wearers ranging in age from 23 to 97, including seniors, people with MS, ALS, Parkinson's, Epilepsy, Downs Syndrome, blind people, and disabled veterans.
About UnaliWear, Inc.
UnaliWear's Kanega watch and service provides discreet support for falls, medication reminders, and a guard against wandering in a classically-styled watch that features an easy-to-use speech interface rather than buttons. Unlike traditional medical alert products, the Kanega watch works where you are, 24x7 – and doesn't require a smart phone. The Kanega watch combines cellular, Wi-Fi, GPS, BLE (for hearing aids and telemedicine devices), an accelerometer for automatic fall detection, and continuous speech to provide an active medical alert that works anywhere, along with data-driven artificial intelligence that learns the wearer's lifestyle to provide predictive, pre-emptive support. Our patent-pending quick swap battery system in the band means wearers never have to remove their watch to charge.
