UL Warns of Unauthorized UL Mark on Transformer

NORTHBROOK, Ill., Feb. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- UL is notifying manufacturers that the transformer model identified below bears unauthorized UL Marks for the United States and Canada. This transformer has not been evaluated by UL to the appropriate standards for safety and it is unknown if it complies with UL safety requirements for the United States or Canada.

Note that this transformer is marked with the same model number and constructed similar to a transformer that is authorized to bear the UL Recognition Mark. The product that is authorized to bear the UL Mark is provided with terminals for input and output connections and marked with the UL Recognition Mark for the United States.  The transformer with the unauthorized UL Marks is provided with lead wires for input and output connections and is marked with an unauthorized UL Listing Mark and Recognition Mark for Canada.
