UL and Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) Warn of Counterfeit Fire Sprinkler
PUBLIC NOTICE
NORTHBROOK, Ill. and WATFORD, United Kingdom, April 30, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- UL and the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) are notifying distributors, contractors, fire departments, regulatory agencies, and authorities having jurisdiction that the Fire Sprinkler identified below bears a counterfeit UL and LPCB certification mark. The Fire Sprinkler has not been evaluated by UL or LPCB to the appropriate Standards for Safety and it is unknown if the fire sprinkler complies with any safety requirements.
Although the sprinkler deflector is marked with GL5661 and the thermo bulb is marked "JOB F5" the sprinkler was not manufactured or labeled by Globe Fire Sprinkler Corporation, and the thermo bulb was not manufactured by Job, GmbH., affiliates or agents.
Note that the counterfeit fire sprinkler is marked with the same model number and constructed similar to a fire sprinkler that is authorized to bear the UL and LPCB Marks. The counterfeit sprinkler is marked "TOP" on the wrench boss of the fire sprinkler frame. Fire sprinkler model GL5661, that is authorized to bear the UL and LPCB Marks, is not marked "TOP."
